- The Government of South Sudan and the Government of Sudan agreed to repair and reopen oil infrastructure destroyed by conflict in the contested border area Heglig, in Unity State.

- A senior opposition general under the leadership of Riek Machar, Edward Aharanya, has joined President Salva Kiir’s faction.

- Ugandan President Yoweri Musevini met with members of the former detainees’ group, a meeting that reportedly focused on the reunification of the SPLM factions and matters of the ongoing peace process.

Saturday 9 June
- After his meeting with the Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga, Riek Machar pledged to back efforts to restore peace and stability in South Sudan. Salva Kiir and Riek Machar is set to meet in Khartoum on the 17 June, in presence of the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed who also holds the IGAD chair position.
